Plainfield is a
village located in Will County, Illinois, and is also the fastest growing
municipality within Will County. 1990 census figures estimate 4,500 residents
lived in Plainfield. By 2000 this number reached 13,000, and a special census
in 2007 revealed that population had boomed to over 37,000 residents. European Reverend Jesse Walker
and his son-in-law James Walker are credited as first settling Walker's Grove,
which is the land now known as Plainfield.
