Oak Park is a village
on the western border of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois. Originally part of
the Chicago suburb of Cicero, population boomed in the 1870s after many urban
residents resettled to Cicero after the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. Popular
attractions in Oak Park include the birthplace and boyhood home of Ernest Hemingway,
along with the Ernest Hemingway Museum,
and the three Oak Park homes of Tarzan creator Edgar Rice Burroughs.
