Huntley is a village
in both McHenry and Kane Counties in Illinois. In the 1830s and '40s, several
families of settlers relocated from New England to areas around Chicago. These
S. Huntley and his wife Elizabeth who acquired land north of the future
Village of Huntley, expanding their holdings further to the south over time.
Huntley has a notably rapid growth rate, counting a mere 5,000 residents in the
2000 census, but now boasting a population of more than 23,000.
