Why choose refinishing instead of replacing or refacing?

Refinishing cabinets is a cost efficient alternative to replacing or refacing.  Refacing cabinets can cost between $8,000.00 to $12,000.00.  Replacing can cost between $25,000.00 to $50,000.00 per kitchen depending on the size and style.

Why choose refacing instead of refinishing?

Broken or outdated doors aren't worth refinishing.

Can you change the stain color without stripping?

Yes, many cabinets such as golden oak and white wash are easily changed.  We have proprietary methods and products so the color goes on without stripping.

Do you do any carpentry work?

We do small carpentry work.  We will add crown molding, decorative molding, bead board and picture frames upon request.

How long does it take to have the cabinets done?

Refinishing takes about 4 to 6 weeks.. Refacing takes 2 to 3 weeks to order new doors and about 5 days in the house for both to refinish the boxes.

What type of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, Visa and Mastercard.

If I call for a free consultations, what happens?

A Consultant will come to your home and show you samples.  An estimate will be given in a few days.  Upon approval of the estimate, a sample of the finish will be done on one of your kitchen cabinet doors, or we will order new doors.  After approval, work will be scheduled.

How much deposit is required?

Half down at the start of the job.  Final payment is due upon door delivery.

How does the finish wear?

Two coats of cleanable, durable clear protects the new finish for years to come.

How do I clean the new finish?

Clean by using mild soap and water.

Do you offer new hardware?

We do not carry hardware but, would be happy to install it if you purchase it for a small fee.  We can also move them to accommodate a different location.

Can you install hidden hinges?

Yes, we can install hidden hinges with new or refinished doors.


13.

What if I plan on getting new countertops?

We can refinish or reface cabinets before or after countertop installation.


14.

What if my cabinets have heavy graining?

We offer finishes that will hide or accentuate the graining of your cabinets.

What if my cabinet doors or drawers need repairs?

We handle most small repairs but a Consultant will advise you.

If my cabinets are veneered, can you still refinish them?

Yes, we have many finishes to accommodate veneers.


17.

Will I have to empty my cabinets?

Generally speaking no but, you may want to remove breakable items. On drawers, if the faces of the drawers come off, you do not have to empty them.  If they do not, then we have to take the whole drawer so, they will need to be emptied.

Is there a warranty?

Yes, there is a one year limited warranty.


19.

What if my cabinets get damaged, ie., pets or kids?

We keep on file customer colors and finishes in the event of non-warranty items such as damage or abuse.  Repairs can be done for a nominal fee.

I want to add additional cabinets, can you match the old cabinets to the new ones?

Generally, we have to look at them first to be able to make that assessment.


21.

My island is rather plain, can you make it look more like a piece of furniture?

Yes, we can add corbels, bead board, picture frames and moldings, then refinish everything to the desired color.


22.

Is SaveWood a green company?

Yes, we do not fill landfills with reuseable wood.  We use only water base products.  Also, there is no toxic stripping and we use low VOC materials.


23. Do you refinish bath vanities or furniture?

      We do not refinish furniture.  We only do bathroom vanities if we  are doing the kitchen too.  There is too much drying time between coats for a vanity and it would end up costing the customer more to refinish it than to replace it.
